Patricia Anne (Schmidt) Schneider entered paradise on June 4th, 2020. She was born June 21, 1940 at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan Wisconsin. She is preceded in death by her father Alfred Schmidt, her mother Rhoda (Splittgerber) Schmidt and her oldest son David John Schneider. Her remains will be placed within her parents’ mausoleum at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. A celebration of life service will be held at Vestavia Lutheran Church around what would have been her 80th birthday.
Survivors include her sons, Timothy James (Julie) Schneider of Birmingham, AL, Thomas Mark (Laura) Schneider of Denver, CO, and Jon Matthew (Amanda) Schneider of Birmingham, AL; sister, Carol (Ken) Derus of West Allis, WI; grandchildren; Morgan, Anna Lee, Slaton, Kate, Ella, Vaughn, Willim, Samantha, Solomon, Selah Belle, Simeon, Silas and Susanna; niece, Cristine (Michael) Rameker; nephew, Scott (Kim) Derus; and dear childhood friend, Carol (Ray) Anderson.
After graduating Valedictorian of West Allis Central High School in West Allis, WI, she received bachelor’s degrees in Medical Sociology and Biology from University of Wisconsin and University of Alabama-Birmingham, respectively. She retired as Executor Director of the United States Eye Injury Registry in 2011, holding that position since 1988.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren playing games, cards and bingo with them as well as attending their sports events, recitals, and church activities. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Alabama football. She enjoyed gardening, baking Springerle and Lasagna, and sewing scripture-based samplers after the birth of each grandchild. Monk, Matlock or In the Heat of the Night seemed to always be showing on her TV.
Before her series of strokes in 2016, she worshiped the One True Living God at Vestavia Lutheran Church. She was a former member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Gardendale, AL. Most importantly, she was a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and never wavered in believing God’s promises. One of her favorite verses (appropriately timed) was 1st Corinthians 15:54-58. Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
In one of her more lucid moments well before her death, she somberly commented about those in the world who weren’t ready for their own death. What about those who prioritize their schedule based on their passions without thoughtful consideration of eternity? She was ready for her death. She was declared righteous by His blood. Her lamp remained lit. She was set to meet The Creator. Are you?
