

Paul Michael Schabacker, born December 20, 1967, was sent to his eternal home in heaven on Monday, November 25, 2025. He was preceded in death by his mother, Diana Pearl Yuchnyk, his father, Robert Bruce Schabacker, his extended mother, Charlene Glass Harris, his extended father, John Rexel Harris, and his nephew, Christopher Robert Madson.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Mary and his children, Mary Beth, Diana and Katie Schabacker. His extended family includes Joyce Schabacker, Stephanie (Roland) Serino, his sisters and brothers, Adrienne (Marty) Madson, Jeff (Adele) Schabacker, Ron (Kim) Heckman, Kinney (Dana) Heckman, Rob Heckman, Kari O'Neil, Heather Layson (Derek) Brown, Kerri Thompson, Mike Wessel, Noah Wessel and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Paul graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1987, followed by Birmingham Southern College, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Paul graduated Magna Cum Laude from Birmingham-Southern in 1989 with a business/finance degree. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and the Mortar Board honorary societies. In 1996, Paul completed an undergraduate degree equivalency in accounting at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he met his wife, and passed the CPA exam.
Paul began his career at Jefferson Federal Savings and Loans Association in 1989, then spending 1991-2004 at First Commercial Bank serving as a Private Banking Officer, Commercial Loan Officer, Commercial Lending Group Manager, and finally Senior Vice President and head of Commercial Real Estate Lending. He was named Executive Vice President and Commercial Sales Manager for ServisFirst Bank in January of 2005, where he remained for the rest of his career.
Paul had a heart for service in addition to his professional commitments. He was the Chair of the Board of CoMMit, Myeloma Trials Innovated, Inc and was committed to reducing the burden of Multiple Myeloma on others. Paul was a devoted member of Shades Valley Lutheran Church and continually worked to help NovusWay. Additionally, he served on the Board of Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity and many other charitable organizations throughout the Birmingham area.
Paul loved serving his clients and would often make unconventional sacrifices to meet their needs. As a result, his clients often became friends. Paul was a loyal and loving husband, father and friend to so many. Paul was committed to making people smile with his witty humor, which further exemplified his heart of gold. Paul was a one-of-a-kind individual who impacted so many for the positive. Although Paul left us too soon, he will live on in our hearts forever.
A visitation will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel, located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL, 35209, on December 7, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
A Memorial Service is scheduled to take place at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400, Homewood, AL, 35209, on December 8, 2025, starting at 11:00 am.
