Peggy M. Haynes

October 12, 2011 after a prolonged illness. She was preceded in death

by her husband, Dr. Walter George Haynes, her son, Peter Joseph Haynes,

and her adopted daughter, Susan Haynes.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Walter George Haynes III, his wife,

Robin, and her granddaughters, Peggy and Leigh Haynes.

She was an Alabama native who grew up in Clanton, Alabama and

resided in Birmingham for her adult life. She attended both the

University of Alabama in Birmingham, as well as Samford University. She

was employed by Alabama Power prior to her marriage. She had a deep

interest in the past and was President of the Birmingham Antiquarian

Society and lectured at Samford on antique glass.

She was a wonderful mother and a devoted Christian.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Monday, August

15 2011, at Two P.M.. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that

donations be made to the National Alzheimer's Association, alz.org (join

the cause) in her honor. Services are under the direction of Ridout's
