First and foremost she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved her family well.
She was a successful business owner, having owned several Toy Stores, and Village Antiques in Alabama. Peggy also contributed to the writing of nine Christian books, when her husband Ed was called to spread the word of the Lord. As a true woman of faith, she dedicated her life to serving God. She lived out her faith by serving several years as President of the Women in the Church and helped coordinate fundraisers for Big Oak Ranch and Campus Crusade for Christ. She was a volunteer at Billy Graham’s Birmingham Crusades. In addition, she became a self-taught librarian when she felt God calling her to establish and run a library at her church. She considered it a privilege to share her testimony of God’s saving grace in her life and how He was continuing to work in her life at many Women’s Luncheons and Conferences. Peggy was a devoted member of Lake Crest Presbyterian Church in Hoover.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Wallace Edward Straiten and Sue Elizabeth Terry. Peggy leaves behind her loving husband of 71 years, Ed McDavid III; children, Mike McDavid (Mikelyn) and Peggy Joseph (Thomas); grandchildren, Lyndsay Rutherford (Jeff), Michael McDavid Jr. (Blair), Taylor Joseph Jr. (Jennifer), and Edmund Joseph; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Halle, Wells, Maggie, Trey, Mary Charlotte, Henry, and Florence.
