

Peggy Jean Carraway Peake, 76 was born May 23, 1941 and passed away December 1, 2017. She graduated Brookhill School and attended Auburn University. Survived polio as a child and made a full recovery. Worked at Shaw Warehouse, Reading and Math Center and at the office of Dr Benjamin Carraway. She served as Den Mother to numerous Cub Scout and Brownie Troops. Her eternal graciousness and kindness to all people made her known as Aunt Peggy, neighborhood mom, substitute teacher, and founder of Camp GranGran, a summer camp for her grandchildren.
She is preceded by: Dr Ben M Carraway and Edna Merle Carraway.She is survived by: Bob Peake (spouse of 55 yrs), children Ben Peake, Nancy Peake Portera (Mike) and Thomas Austin Peake, Sr. (Traci); grandchildren Leanne Portera, Lauren Portera, Kelsey Peake, Emily Trucks and Thomas Austin Peake, Jr., Sister Joan Marie Carraway Dilworth and Dr. Robert P. Carraway and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Sunday December 3, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood. Funeral service will be Monday December 4, 2017 at 1:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, Homewood. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
