Phillip J. Sarris

Phil Sarris of Vestavia, age 77, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend died Thursday June 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Georgia (Gulas) Sarris. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Demetra Drakos Sarris, his devoted children, son Jimmy Sarris, daughter Karen Sarris Brooks (Jeff), his adoring granddaughter Abi Brooks. Phil received much pleasure working in his beautiful yard, and was very proud of his beautiful hydrangeas. Phil was active in the Birmingham Historical Society and Homewood Chamber of Commerce. A practicing attorney for over 50 years, Phil was a graduate of Cumberland School of Law and a member of the Birmingham Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar Association. He was well known in his private practice because of his high sense of integrity and good judgment. Quiet and reserved, he was loving and needed little recognition. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and his large extended family. Visitation will be Monday June 30, 2014, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Greek Ortodox Cathedral of Holy Trinity - Holy Cross followed by the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
