Ralph E. Johnston died in Birmingham, AL on October 11, 2013 at 76 years of age. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah R. Johnston and their two children: a daughter, Sherry L. Johnston, Alabaster, AL and a son, David L. Johnston (Kellie), McCalla, AL. He is survived by one brother, Lawrence M. Johnston of Denton, TX. His parents, Grover O. and Pearlie Lee Pair Johnston, and his brother John M. Johnston preceded him in death.
Mr. Johnston received his engineering degree from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. During his professional career he worked for American Bridge and Rust Engineering in Birmingham, AL.
The family will receive visitors at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL on Sunday, October 13th from 2 to 4 PM. A private burial service for the family with be held on Monday, October 14th in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to an organization of choice.
