
He was born on March 27, 1928 to Margaret Finnegan and Carlton Dixon and he grew up in New York and in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Saint Bernard in Cullman, Alabama and graduated from Fordham University in New York. After a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, he accepted a position with Honeywell International until his retirement, when he moved back to Birmingham from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife, Martha Mitchell Dixon; his sister, Jean Marie Dixon Dunn (Robert), and he is survived by his son, Randall J. Dixon, Jr., as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Randall leaves behind many who admired him and will miss him dearly.
The family deeply appreciates Tamika Pope and Veleatha Smith, who cared for him the last three years of his life at Brookdale University Park and Fairhaven Retirement Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at eleven o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 12th of June, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church located at 1728 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial rites will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
