

Dick was born in Buffalo, New York on June 25, 1946.
He grew up in Bala Cynwyd, PA, in a family of eight children. He attended Harriton High School and graduated with a degree in Secondary Education from Pennsylvania State University.
He served in the Unted States Navy from 1968 to 1972, as communications specialist stationed at the Naval Communications Station at Wahiawa, HI.
He is survived by Sara Bent Bickell, his wife of 57 years, sons Jason Scott Bickell and Adam Thomas Bickell of Birmingham, AL; brothers William Bickell of Columbus, OH, Thomas Bickell of Narbeth, PA and sister Sandy Bickell Harman of West Chester, PA. He had two beloved grandchildren, Molly & Frank Bickell.
Dick was in wholesaler sales in the floor covering industry in Middle Tennessee, a career which spanned 40 years. After starting out in sales for Armstrong World Industries flooring division in the Philadelphia District Office, he moved to Nashville to become Sales Manager for the Nashville Branch office of Raub Supply Company, an Armstrong distributor. He later went on to became Nashville Branch Manager for the R.A. Siegel Co, Distribution Manager for Bruce and Armstrong Hardwood Flooring Division and was in territorial sales for the The Brandon Company, and for William M. Bird, from which he retired in 2019. He served as President of the Nashville Floor Covering Association for two terms.
Dick was most remembered for being funny, caring and always making others laugh. His outgoing and friendly personality and his wit, humor and stories were his trademark. He dearly loved his many family members. In business, he was admired for being a mentor and valued friend. His positive attitude, strong work ethic and great sales talent made him admired by many. He will be missed for his kindness and especially his great generous spirit of love and encouragement that he showed to others.
