

Robert William Listerman, age 61, of Birmingham, died Monday, June 19. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ellsworth Listerman and Madalon Falkingham; step-mother Audrey Listerman; and sister, Patricia Weems. Robert is survived by his spouse, best friend, and partner of 21 years, Jason Coy Turner; his sister, Jo Simpson; brothers-in-law, Frank Turner and Billy Prater, Jr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends and loved ones. Robert attended the University of Alabama and was a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. He spent his career of more than 39 years as Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot for O'Neal Industries. He was most proud to have worked for three generations of the O'Neal family, whom he admired greatly. During his career, Robert piloted various O'Neal corporate jets, including a Citation I, Falcon 10, Westwind II, and a Learjet 45. Robert loved aviation; his knowledge, excellent safety record, and warm personality gave his passengers a feeling of comfort. Robert was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23 at 11:00 am with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Human Rights Campaign (1640 Rhode Island Avenue Northwest, Washington, D.C. 20036), Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham LGBT Fund (2100 1st Avenue North #700, Birmingham, AL 35203), or given to the Independent Presbyterian Church (3100 Highland Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35205).
