Robert Edgar Ohnich

Ed was born on February 18, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Edgar and Carolyn Lamar Ohnich. He attended Robinson and Barrett grade schools and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1956. He attended Samford University, where he received the award for Outstanding Accounting Student, and graduated in 1960. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

Ed worked in public accounting for over 50 years, and was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, serving on several committees throughout his career. He also served in the Alabama National Guard.

Ed is survived by his wife, Melba Crain Ohnich, daughters Kelley Ohnich Campbell (Kent), Amy Ohnich Nunn (Michael), and Molly Ohnich Maynard (Rob), son Robert Edgar “Bud” Ohnich, Jr.(Melissa), and grandchildren Caroline Nunn, Sam Nunn, Katie Parrish, Lilly Campbell, Robert Edgar “Trey” Ohnich III, Alan Maynard and Anna Grace Maynard. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Ohnich Hobson (David), his niece Jill Hobson, nephew Andrew Hobson (Lori) and great niece Audrey.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
