brother Joseph Lawrence Parsons, Jr.; He leaves behind his son, Robert Ellis Parsons, Jr.;
his daughter, Ashley Parsons Ferguson (Tod); his grandchildren, Jonathan Allen Ferguson
(Danielle); Emily Kathleen Ferguson and Charles Parsons Ferguson; and his sister Ellis
Parsons Bynum.
Robert was born in Mulga, Alabama on December 20, 1933, and spent much of his
childhood in north Birmingham before his family settled in Mountain Brook. After
graduating from The University of Alabama School of Law, he married the love of his
life Suzanne, joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and would ultimately attain the rank of
lieutenant colonel. After a tour of duty in Germany, he returned to Birmingham in 1962
to begin practicing law and start a family. In 1986, Robert co-founded the law firm of
Parsons, Lee & Julianno, P.C.
Robert was a life-long member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church of which his parents
were founding members and where he served as senior warden on the Vestry. An avid
golfer since childhood, he would always have a club in his hand whether real or
imagined. He enjoyed a membership at the Country Club of Birmingham spanning nearly
seven decades. Even in his later years as a widower in declining health, he could still be
found spending time with friends and family and took great pleasure in reading to
children at Pre-school Partners and the Lovelady Center.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the support of amazing
friends and caregivers.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church in Mountain
Brook, AL on Saturday March 2nd, 2024 at 10:30 AM with visitation at 9:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the Lovelady Center in Birmingham,
the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, or a charity of your choice.
