

Robert “Bob” Trucks age 88, died September 13, 2024. He was born in Birmingham on January 7, 1936 to the late Warren Trucks and Syble Taylor Locascio. He moved to Bibb County, Alabama in 1941 and lived with his late grandparents Robert and Audrey Taylor and attended Bibb County public schools. In 1950 he moved back to Birmingham and attended Birmingham City Public Schools and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1954. After a couple of short stints in professional baseball, with the St. Petersburg Florida Saints and New Iberia Louisiana Indians, and working he enrolled in Howard College (now Samford University), where he lettered in baseball for 4 years and was captain of the 1960 team. He served as president, vice-president and secretary/treasurer of “The H Club” (varsity letterman club). Bob graduated from Howard College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1960.
Bob served in the Alabama Air National Guard where he served as Flight Leader, awarded Airman of the Month and recommended for the American Spirit of Honor Medal. The Air national guard unit was activated during the Civil Rights movement in Birmingham and once during the Berlin Crisis and was deployed to France for one year. Bob received an Honorable Discharge in 1966.
Bobs work career was in accounting and contracting before retiring in 2013. He also was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Audrey Taylor; his parents Warren Trucks and Syble Locascio and brother Ronnie Locascio. He is survived by his children: Rob Trucks (Karan), Wayne Trucks (Christi), Beth Shea (Richard); his grandchildren: Emily Trucks Leibach (Cooper), Gann Trucks, Jack Carvalho (Allyson), Courtney Shea Smith (Braden) and Caroline Shea Thomas (Kirk); his sister: Elsie Trucks and brothers: Richard Trucks (Mary Eleanor) and Steve Trucks (Jan).
Funeral services will be at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Wednesday, September 18th at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Alabama National Cemetery following the service at 1:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Bob Trucks may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Rd., Homewood, Al 35209.
