

Robert Henry Wilson, Sr. passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 due to complications from kidney and heart disease. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Anne Belcher Wilson, parents George and Jean Wilson, brother George Ward Wilson, and his son Jeffrey Wilson. He is survived by his sister Jean Glynn Wilson Davis, sons Hank Wilson (Kelly) and Kyle Wilson (Angie) and his daughters Kimberly Wilson McGee and Kelly Wilson. He is also remembered by seven grandchildren, whom he cherished, and six great-grandchildren. Bob was born in Franklin, Kentucky on July 14, 1937. After graduating from Western Kentucky University, he lived much of his adult life in Birmingham, Alabama and Destin, Florida. Bob spent his entire career in the scrap metal recycling industry, built a reputation of being tough but fair, and was highly respected among his peers Throughout his career, he forged many lifelong friendships. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cattle ranching. He was also an avid reader of US history. Most of all, he loved traveling and experiencing the world with his beloved Annie. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL. Visitation will be held from 10:00am- 12:00pm with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
