Ronald Scott Harris

ArRon Harris, 65, of Birmingham, Alabama went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2014. Mr. Harris was born November 11, 1948, in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Ralph and Jean Harris. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Diane Whitworth Harris; his children Amy Harris of Atlanta, Adam Harris of Tuscaloosa and Ryan Harris of Birmingham. He was a graduate of Central High School in Columbia; Tennessee Technological University and the Air Force Institute of Technology. Ron enjoyed racquetball, fishing, a good competition and spending time with his family. After finishing college he served in the Air Force for 10 years. He went on to work as a pilot for Vulcan Materials for 33 years. Flying was his passion along with Alabama Football. He was deacon and active member at Briarwood Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Foundations Early Learning and Family Center (http://www.foundationselfc.org/giving-and-support/ ). A memorial service will be held at Briarwood Presbyterian Church on Friday August 29 at 1:30pm. Arrangements under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL.
