

His military career started in the Alabama Air National Guard and after a several year break he re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves, stationed at Maxwell AFB, Al. He retired in 1997 with over 2000 hours as a Flight Engineer in the C-130 Hercules and a total of 25 years’ service. During his military career, his deployment sites included Europe, South America, Panama and troop deployment for Desert Shield.
Ron was a Deacon at Palisades Church of Christ. Ron never met a stranger and his smile spread joy to all around him. He enjoyed helping others, golf, and spending time discussing current events with his mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and friends. He loved our God, family, country, church family, 4 legged children, and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Ron was preceded in death by parents Dorothy Silver Williams and James Allen Williams and brother Ken Allen Williams. Survived by wife of 35 years Gail Sutliff Williams; son Jeffery Brian Williams; brother Stan Williams; mother-in-law Helen Sutliff; sister-in-law Esther Williams; brother-in-law Richard Sutliff; nephews David Williams, Jimmy Williams; nieces Joy (Brian)Hartley, Karen (Paul) Icey, Susan (Jason) Shipley, Melissa (Ernie) Floyd, Eryn Sutliff, Jennifer (Seth) McCollough, 9 great nieces and nephews, and “adopted” children Melissa Precise Hamilton and Nick Fowler.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017 beginning at 10 am with the funeral service following at 11 am at Palisades Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 2:45 pm.
Pallbearers will be Gary Rasbury, Ernie Floyd, Seth McCollough, Jason Shipley, Josh Hamilton and Rick Fowler.
