Rose Fox Campbell passed away on Saturday May, 9, 2020. She was born on September 17, 1926 in Wyalusing, PA to the late Michael and Kathryn Fox. Her family moved to Camp Town, PA and finally settled in Towanda, PA. Rose graduated from Towanda high School in 1946, where she was instrumental in leading her senior class and school in selling war bonds. The school received the honor of flying the Navy E flag which at the time was the only private sector flag awarded. After high school Rose entered Robert Packer Hospital for her nurses training and graduated with her RN Degree. She was a cadet trained in the Army Nurses Core but the war ended prior to her deployment. She met Donald D. Campbell shortly after graduation and they married in February of 1949. They moved to Birmingham for Dave’s job and she loved the warmer weather and the blooming jonquils! Rose began working at St. Vincent’s Hospital delivering blood and transporting Chemo patients until she started a family in 1951. Rose was a devoted mom, Girl Scout master, PTA president, as well as a staunch advocate for positive change in her community. She was known for always helping those in need. In 1973 she returned to nursing at South Highlands Hospital and retired as Nursing Supervisor in 1990. She continued her community service thru Cahaba Elks/Lady Elks as well as her duties as “Gramma Rose”. She loved Alabama football and all the events she attended with Dave for that and radio/TV. Her other loves were ice skating, bowling, dancing, travel, camping, reading, gardening, and mall walking with her friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband Donald D. “Dave” Campbell and her brothers Eddie Fox and Leo Fox. Rose was a loving mother to her wonderful children, Chris Oyer (Scott), Carol Bradley (Eston), Candy Campbell, Donna Thompson (Jack), Donald D. “Don” Campbell, Jr., (Christina) and Mike Campbell (Holly). Also left to treasure the memory of Gramma Rose are grandchildren Chris, Melissa, Mark, John, Bows, Davis, Foster, Ashton, Kinsey, Darci and Chad and her great grandchildren Piper, Nick, Braydon, Cece, Evan, Charli, Dani, Lacey Kate, Kenneth and Sneaux. Her family was her greatest joy in life and she loved them dearly.
A celebration of her wonderful life will be held at a later date.
