Ross Jonathan Briley, 42, of Birmingham, went to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 7th. He was born on June 21, 1968 in Birmingham, Alabama. Ross attended Homewood High School and graduated from St. Andrews-Sewanee College Preparatory School where he was recruited to play golf. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Ross was a successful general contractor in Birmingham for over 20 years. He was an avid soccer player and accomplished golfer. He attended Church of The Highlands.
Ross’s greatest love on this earth was for his three incredible children. Time spent with them gave him the most joy and deepest sense of pride. Ross considered his greatest journey in this life to be his spiritual journey. His relationship with God grew ever closer, his love for God ever deeper. Ross is survived by his parents, Dorothy J. Holloway and James R. Briley, Jr.; his beloved children, John Merritt, Keller and Jennings Briley; his sister, Cynthia Briley Haupt and brother, Jay Briley; as well as many other loving relatives and his devoted Dog Lucky. The family extends deep appreciation to New Beacon Hospice and Balm of Gilead. Visitation will be on Monday night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Ridout Valley Chapel in Homewood. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Croft-Acton Cemetery on Old Rocky Ridge Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Balm of Gilead at 1515 6th Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35233.
