

Sam Johnson was the eldest son of Abner Crow and Mary Sue (Logan) Johnson. He went to Crestline, Baylor School and graduated from Shades Valley. He attended The University of AL and served his country in the National Guard. He began his career at Engel Mortgage, and then worked at Johnson, Rast & Hays as a top executive, alongside his father and co-founder, Abner Johnson. In 1975, they formed Johnson & Associates Mortgage, Co. where he served as president. He was a longtime member of IPC where he served as a STAIR volunteer.
Sam was predeceased by his son, Edward (Bo) Saxton Johnson, his brother, Andrew Langston Johnson and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue (Parker); his daughters: Elizabeth Kimberly Logan Johnson, Aimee Cornell Johnson, Catherine Pittman Smith and Bradford Pittman Brackin (Lane). He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Geoffrey Logan Whitehall Leps, Abner Crow Leps, Samuel Clay Leps, Joshua Crow Haynes, Rebeka Brawford Haynes, Sarah (Sadie)Philips Smith, Samuel McKibbon Brackin and William Parker Brackin; and two great-grandchildren: Willow Fae Leps and Ila Lee Leps.
Invested in people, Sam was an encouraging, loving, loyal man, he always saw the best in people and doled out copious quantities of hope, grace and love. He never met a stranger and always made everyone feel known, appreciated and unconditionally loved. He engaged life and love to the fullest. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks are given for the loving care by his nurses at St. Vincent’s. Memorial Service is at Independent Presbyterian Church at 2pm on Thursday, November 16th.
