Born on March 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James Lester Crane and Martha Elizabeth Crawford Crane.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, Edwin C. Craft and she is survived by her niece, Louise Williamson; great niece, Lori Epperson; and by her great nephew, Marc Allen.
A member of Irondale United Methodist Church, Mrs. Craft retired from Bell South after 40 years of service. Sara joined the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in December of 1960. She served in every office of the Birmingham Territory Chapter and was elected Honorary Chapter Regent. Elected as Chairman of the Regents' Council she mentored and encouraged other Regents. On the state level she served as Corresponding Secretary, Second Vice Regent, and chairman of many state committees. But Sara's great love was the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School on Gunter Mountain. She was very generous to the school and loved the students as if they were her own. As a tribute to her many contributions and faithful service to the school she was elected Honorary Member of the Board of Trustees of the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, an honor she prized until her death.
