Sarah B Neal

Sarah Britton Neal born August 19, 1936 to Margaret Brown Britton and Samuel Abney Britton in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. She attended Newcomb College and was graduated from Vanderbilt University with an A.B. in biology.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Phil H. Neal, Jr. She is survived by three children Amy Neal Ager, Phil Hudson Neal III, and Samuel Abney Britton Neal (Comer). Her Five grandchildren are Sarah B. Burkhart (Josh), Francis Minor Shepard Ager (Sally), Bess Bouchelle Ager, Samuel A. B. Neal (Sabrina), and Warner Shook Neal. Her 7 great grandchildren, Virginia Ager, John Ager, Whit Ager, Price Ager, Margot Burkhart, Jack Burkhart and Jack Neal.

She was a long time member of the Cathedral Church of the Advent where she was Garden Pilgrimage chairman, Lenten Lunch co-chairman, ECW President, Sunday school teacher, vestry member and chalice bearer.

She was a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, president and trustee of Girl’s, Inc of Central Alabama, Antiquarians, Hermitage Garden Club, and Carousels Dance Club.

The family would like to thank her dear friends Janet Huffman, Wanda Cade, Vanessa Wash, and Becky Herbstreith for their assistance and companionship these later years.

Services will be at the Cathedral Church of the Advent on May 27, 2025. Visitation with family at 10 am in the church parish hall and service starting at 11am. .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials to the charity of your choice or to The Cathedral Church of the Advent.
