Sarah C Wall

Sarah "Sally" Challis Wall passed away on June 18th in Birmingham, Alabama. Sally was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania in 1931 to David Anderson Challis Jr. and Sarah Williams Challis. She graduated from Wells College in Aurora, New York.

Sally was a devoted wife to her late husband James “Jim” Thomas Wall for 57 years. She was a wonderful mother to her son James Thomas Wall Jr. (Margaret) and her daughter Challis Wall Gamble. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren Margaret Wall Rader (Walton), James Thomas Wall, III (Grace), Mark Hunter Gamble Jr. (Kimberly), David Anderson Gamble (Katie Lupton), and Sarah Challis Gamble, and 3 great grandchildren.

Sally was a longtime member of Independent Presbyterian Church, was an avid tennis player, once a club champion at the Birmingham Country Club. She also loved to play bridge with her friends. She was a member of both Lilies of the Valley and Crepe Myrtle Garden Clubs and Harlequins Dance Club.

Services will be held at Independent Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 28th. Visitation begins at 10:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Independent Presbyterian Church or a favorite charity
