Susie Burgin

Susie Hollis Burgin, 84, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, went to join her husband, family and friends in Heaven on July 7, 2017. She is survived by her sister, Madee Schestopol, and her four children, William Merritt Burgin III (Annette), Mark Edwin Burgin, Susan Burgin Terch (Jeff), Luanne Dunne (Dennis). She was grandmother to 15 grandchildren: Helen Nabors (Cory), Lucy Aitcheson (Mike), Lynne Carmargo Cruz (Pedro), Merritt Burgin IV, Marshall Burgin, Tricia Duff (Tim), April Johnson (Joe), Kate Blank (Brian), Leigh Ann Terch, Jeffrey Terch (Morgan), Jennifer Terch, Ryan Dunne (Anna), Justin Dunne (Brittany), Trent Dunne (Abbie), and Caroline Dunne. Along with 14 great grandchildren, she also had numerous nieces and nephews whom loved her dearly. Her family was the joy of her life. She attended the University of Alabama where she majored in Physical Education. She married before she graduated and left to be the wife of William "Bim" Burgin. She spent her life serving others. She especially enjoyed cooking on the church construction mission trips, being active in Woman's Missionary Union, and taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed Thanksgiving in Carrollton, Alabama, and spending time with family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. More recently, she enjoyed spending time playing Bridge with her friends. For the past 17 years, she attended church at Brookwood Baptist Church where the Celebration Service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 3:00 in the afternoon. The visitation will also be held at Brookwood from 1:30 to 3:00. The family wishes to express the most sincere gratitude to the nursing staff in CICU at Grandview Hospital, along with Lucille Benson, caregiver to Bim and companion to Susie for the past 15 years.
