Suzanne Keller Pierce, 83, passed away on June 21, 2020 at her home in Birmingham, AL. She was born and raised in Bozeman, MT and had fond memories of a wonderful childhood. She graduated from Gallatin County High School in 1954. Beginning her college career at Stanford University, she returned to Bozeman during her sophomore year to complete a B.S. in Education from Montana State University in 1958. Suzanne married in her senior year of college in 1957 and after graduation moved to Hillsboro, OR and then to Bloomington, IN before settling in Birmingham, AL in 1970. Suzanne’s love for children led to a lifelong career of teaching with a passion for teaching reading. Suzanne furthered her own education earning a Master’s Degree in Education from UAB. While a gifted pianist and organist, she was also a member of the Cathedral Bell Choir at the Cathedral Church of the Advent for 30 years. She was a long-standing member of P.E.O. supporting the advancement of women and was an avid reader and a world-wide traveler.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her beloved parents Earl Benjamin and Jane Moss Keller. She is survived by her sons Brent and Mark, daughter Polly (Taze), three grandchildren Taze IV, Townes, and Pierce, and sister Phyllis Keller of Mesa, AZ, and several other family members.
The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice and Mending Hearts for their care and support. A funeral service will be held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent for immediate family members at 1:00 on June 30, 2020. At a safer time in the future, a memorial service will be held to celebrate Suzanne’s life as she was blessed with many friends whom she considered family. Her ashes will be interred at St James Episcopal Church in Bozeman, MT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org.
