Teneda Latham

Teneda Diergo Latham, 82, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Diergo and Frank Diergo, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael S. Latham.

She leaves behind a family who she adored her children: Sam Latham, Rita (Tommy) Jones, Renee (Michael) Fox, and Frank (Amy) Latham; her sister, Marie Swift; her brother-in-law, Jack Latham (Diane). She was a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family.

Over the years, Teneda worked for A-1 Moving and Storage Company, Marshall Accounting Company, Southern Living Magazine, and Charter Corporation. She approached every chapter of her life with grace, determination, and a strong work ethic.

To know Teneda was to know unwavering love. She was spirited, strong-willed, loyal, and fiercely devoted to those she loved. She never hesitated to stand up for her family, worry over them, fuss at them when needed, or lift them up in prayer. Beneath her fiery determination was a deep well of compassion, kindness, and faith. Her love was constant, her prayers were sincere, and her presence made everyone around her feel cared for.

Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life, sustaining her through life's joys and challenges alike. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 08, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, Alabama. Interment will immediately follow at the Our Lady of Sorrows Columbarium.
