Thomas Carey Barrentine

Thomas Carey Barrentine, 59, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama. Carey was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from his family, his faith, and the life they shared together.

Carey was born to Clytee and Charles Barrentine and grew up in Marks, Mississippi. He graduated from Mississippi State University before making Hoover, Alabama, his home for the past 36 years.

Carey is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia Barrentine, and their sons, Wesley (Kacie) Barrentine and Matthew Barrentine. He is also survived by his brother, David (Fran) Barrentine, and sister, Cathy (John) Robson, along with extended family and many dear friends.

Carey enjoyed a successful career with Regions Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President of Risk Management. He was respected for his dedication, wisdom, and steady commitment to those he worked with. His character was reflected not only in his professional accomplishments, but also in the kindness, reliability, and care he showed to the people around him.

Outside of work, Carey found joy in the simple things. He loved walking and cycling, traveling across this beautiful country, and making memories along the way. Most of all, he treasured his family. He loved his wife, Tricia, deeply and took great joy in being present in the activities and lives of his two sons, Wesley and Matthew. His love for them was evident in the time he gave, the encouragement he offered, and the memories they shared.

Carey was a devoted husband and father whose faith shaped the way he lived and loved. He cherished his church family at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, where his faith and relationships with others were an important part of his life. Through his quiet strength, genuine care, and faithful presence, Carey touched the lives of many.

Carey will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, his devotion to his wife and sons, his thoughtful and dependable character, his love of adventure and travel, and the many memories he created with those around him. He had a way of making people feel valued, and his influence will continue through the lives he touched. His greatest joy was simply being with his family, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who loved him.

Though his time with us was far too short, Carey’s faith, love, kindness, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00–11:45 a.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 noon.

A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama.
