Vera H. Anderson

Visitation for Anderson is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 27 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham, where she was a parishioner, followed by funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. and burial at Elmwood Cemetery.

Anderson is survived by her grandson, Chris Paschenko, granddaughter-in-law, Melissa Paschenko, and her great grandson, Nicholas Paschenko. Anderson is preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Batson.

Anderson attended Shades Cahaba Elementary, Leeds High School and graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was a secretary with Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Birmingham News and with an Atlanta insurance company. She returned to her hometown in 1951 and found her niche that blossomed into a 40-year career in the Personnel Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Birmingham branch downtown.

Anderson loved European excursions, exercising at the Levite Jewish Community Center and was active in a shag dance club, where she became close friends with Pam Burgess and Trina Vines.

“Gear-ma,” as Nicholas called her, will be missed, but her memories will last a lifetime.
