Wilbur K. Allen Jr.

Wilbur K. Allen, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Elon Pritchard Allen, his sons Will Allen (Katie), Pritchard Allen (Emma), granddaughters Kate and Annie Allen, grandson Brennan Allen, sister Kay Allen Howell (Tommy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

Wilbur, or Bubba as he was known to some, was born in Birmingham on May 21, 1946 to Wilbur K. Allen Sr. and Christine Gibbs Allen. He attended Mountain Brook Elementary, Birmingham University School, Columbia Military Academy, and graduated from Shades Valley High School before moving on to the University of Southern Mississippi and later the University of West Alabama.

Wilbur loved his family, his dogs, his many friends from all walks of life, spending time outdoors, Alabama football, great music, a stiff drink and a good joke.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 7th at 2pm at St. Mary’s on the Highlands Episcopal Church. Following the service, the family welcomes visitors to join them for a remembrance at the Country Club of Birmingham beginning at 3:30pm.
