I just learned the news today while visiting a friend and former Southern Progress colleague in Birmingham. I worked with Bill for several years and especially enjoyed our time together with the Southern Accents show home projects featured in the magazine. An exceptionally talented salesman, Bill had a warm, engaging personality with a ready smile and laugh. My deepest sympathies to Trish and his family. May God comfort you.

I just found out about Bill's passing. My deepest sympathies to the Carey's. I worked at Southern Progress in the 90's. I had a great deal of respect and admiration for Bill and was proud to call him a friend. He will be greatly missed

It was interesting to read that Bill and his family visited several of the identical areas on this globe as visited by our family (including Ireland), and that Boston College enjoys a fellow alumni. Again, the Boyce family extends our deepest sympathies over Bill's passing into the Lords hands, much too early. May God have mercy on Bill's soul.

Bill was a great mentor, friend and the ultimate gentleman.  He always reminded me of the drawing I did for one of Patrick's earlier bday parties (my mushy memory cannot recollect what I drew...some kind of superhero character, I believe). I am so grateful to have had the privilege of working with and knowing Bill through our years at Southern Accents.  You couldn't ask for a greater guy to work for! He was kind, honest, upbeat, and always had words of encouragement and support. I had the utmost respect for him. I am deeply saddened to hear of Bill's passing.  I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Bill for over a decade in total – first way back when in Chicago when Bill called on me at DDB Needham for Southern Living and later when he hired me to work at Southern Accents.  As a boss, I had great respect and admiration for Bill.  He was a special man and a mentor to me.  I greatly appreciate his support and the important role he played in my career for many years.  On a more personal level, I also have many good memories of knowing Bill and of his kindness, his honesty, his sense of humor, his love for his family and pride in his children + he was just plain fun to be around.  He will be missed.  My thoughts, prayers and sympathy go out to the family.

I was so sad to hear the news. We were in Journalism school together at Marquette.  I can picture him like it was yesterday. Wishing his family peace at this difficult time.

Sadden to learn of Bill's untimely passing. I had the pleasure of working closely with Bill. Truly one of the"Good guys" Our prayers are with the family.

He had written his initials, "BC," on his arm, which many Boston College students interpreted to be a shout-out to his son's alma mater.  A good man that helped to raise such a great family. I still remember the 10 days we camped out for student lottery tickets for Marquette basketball sophomore year, just a fun guy to be around & great sense of humor. My sincere sympathy to Trish & the kids. RIP Billy, you were one of the best.

I had the honor of running with Bill at Sacred Heart where he was a great team captain, great competitor, mentor and friend to all. I remember those pep talks like they were yesterday. Bill was such a salesman that he "sold" me into a career of selling!  He had the crazy idea that I should go to Atlanta and take a swing at it.  Shortly after I moved, I met my now husband!  I enjoyed working for him for over 10 years and feel so grateful that he inspired the career path that framed my life and family. Bill was so effusive about his kids and Trish- always sharing the latest news about track meets, college searches and family vacations.  He was SO proud of his children.  Just so proud and utterly pleased with their accomplishments and their character.  Surely his passing stings all that knew him but there is no shortage of warm memories to comfort his family and friends.  Peace be with you Carey Family.
