
William Ellington Morgan III, 80 of Birmingham, died Monday, September 5 at his home. Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Pine Mountain Cemetery in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Mr. Morgan was born March 24, 1936 in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of the late William Ellington Morgan, Jr and Nancy Holt Mobley Morgan. He grew up in LaGrange, attended Marion Military Institute and graduated from the University of Georgia. Upon graduation, he married Connie Kimbrough of Pine Mountain and after a short stay in Atlanta, moved to Birmingham while working for General Electric. Shortly thereafter he joined First National Bank of Birmingham, ultimately to become AmSouth Bank and Regions Bank, where he was instrumental in developing the bank’s computer operations systems. He was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church and the Carpenter’s Hands Ministry. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Kimbrough Morgan and a brother, Thomas Truitt Morgan.
Survivors include two sons, William Ellington Morgan IV (Lee) and Neal Kimbrough Morgan (Camille), a daughter, Nancy Morgan Hall (Bo), a brother, Robert Bruce Morgan (Camille) and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Davis Morgan.
Survivors also include 11 grandchildren, Emily Morgan Brown (Jeremy), Caroline Holt Morgan, William Ellington Morgan V (Carly), Neal Kimbrough Morgan Jr, Mari Evelyn Morgan, James Caldwell Morgan, Anna Hope Morgan, Holt Smith Morgan, Helen Kimbrough Hall, William Daniel Hall and John Morgan Hall.
Survivors also include 3 great grandchildren, Olivia Lee Brown, Caroline O’Neal Brown and Crawford Jane Brown.
