He attended Crestline Elementary School in Mountain Brook, AL and moved to Huntsville in the 4th grade. He was in the first class to attend newly built Grissom High School and loved playing ice hockey, his guitar, and golf
William graduated from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, in 1976 with a B.S. Degree in Business and Finance.
He worked in real estate with his family's company, Wiginton Reality ,Inc. He was involved in Sales, Property Management, and Construction. He worked on the early development of several subdivisions in Madison, AL including Madison Point and Cambridge Woods.
William is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Bettye Wiginton: Grandparents Emmett C. Wiginton and Myrtle Wiginton, William Ira Smith and Eula T. Smith and brother, Robert Alan Wiginton.
He is survived by his sisters, Janet Holloway and her husband John Holloway, III, and by his niece, Joanna Holloway and nephews, John Holloway IV.
The family is grateful for the wonderful care he received at River City Center in Decatur, AL the last year of his life.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 2:00p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
