Barbara Janice (Moore) Simmons

Mrs. Barbara Janice (Moore) Simmons, a long-time resident of the Homosassa area, passed away Thursday, April 19 2018. Barbara was born November 26, 1933 in Pritchard, Alabama was the beloved wife of the late Claude Simmons. She worked as a front desk clerk for Neffer's Bowling Center until her retirement in 2006. After her retirement, she spent her time doing all the things she loved, including: gardening, crossword & jigsaw puzzles, needlepoint, bowling, and computer games. Her greatest joy, however, came in spending time with her family. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, Barbara is survived by her children Ron and Elaine Simmons, Don and Christine Simmons, Kathy and Bobby Ridge, and William and Janie Simmons; Brother William (Bill) Moore, Jr and wife Lynn; Sister Ouida Buckley; grandchildren Nicole Chilson, Kimberly Apicello, Benjamin Simmons, Jonathan Simmons, Shellise Feltner, Austin Ridge, Jennifer Blair, Audrey Akin, Rebecca Wilson, Dana (DJ) Kurtz, and Taylor Peel; 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and great friends including Mickey Cook and Steve Neff. She is preceded in death by her parents William D. and Ola Mae Moore; daughter Janice Blair; brother Edly Moore; and beloved dog Sadie. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa and continued at the home of Ron and Elaine.
