

Betty A. Black, 77, of Lecanto, FL, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. A native of Doyle, Tennessee, she was born March 26, 1940 to Hugh and Effie (Taylor) Black, one of seven children. Betty had lived in Citrus County periodically over the past 50 years and was a retired administrative law enforcement official with both the Polk County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Florida Highway Patrol. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her volunteer work as an advocate for housing with Paint Your Heart Out in Polk County. Betty was of the Baptist faith and is survived by her children Jody Perryman (wife Lynne), Toy Buddenbohm (husband John) and Kelly Mitcheson (husband Jim), both of Lecanto, FL; siblings Billy Black (wife Tammy), Deer Lodge, TN; Nancy Hughes (husband Richard) and Patty DeBusk, both of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren Jordan, Spenser, Brandon and Taylor and great grandchildren Branson, Jacob and Jaisa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Buddy Black, Crystal River, FL; Don Black, Deer Lodge, TN and Bobby Black, Oliver Springs, TN and a brother-in-law, Monte DeBusk.
