Calvin Marvin Church, 80, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Thursday, November 13th, 2025 at Florida Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. He was born in Reno, NV on January 31st, 1945. He was one of four children and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah by his parents Dale and Norma Jean (Ford) Woodard. Cal, as he was known to many, had a long and rewarding career in the telecommunications industry. He moved to Homosassa in 2016, along with his beloved wife Patricia M. “Penny” Church, after residing in Northern Virginia since 2000. Cal served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1967 and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A gifted and talented woodworker, he taught woodworking at children’s summer camps in Reston, Virginia and was also a member of the Virginia Woodworking Guild. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, his family was at the center of his entire world. His perfect day would be enjoying Penny’s delicious cooking and watching his grandkids sports games. He loved spending time with his family and loved ones. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, swimming, scuba diving, golf, camping, and sitting on the porch with Penny and his dog Rosie. He loved the outdoors and exploring nature (he always took the scenic route!) In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Woodard. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Penny Church of Homosassa; daughter Jennifer Bell (husband Jim), Manteo, NC and son Matthew Church (wife Tara), Beverly Hills, FL; grandchildren Connor of Frederick, MD; Lauren of New York, NY; Madison of Wilmington, NC; Callie of Farmville, VA; Kylee Bell of Austin, TX and Christopher of Ocala, FL, as well as siblings Amelia Jean White (husband Ron) and Cecil Woodard, both of Salt Lake City, UT.
