Caroline J. Waterhouse

Caroline J. Waterhouse (Meadus), 97, of Homosassa, FL, passed away and received her butterfly wings on Aug. 16, 2025. A native of Detroit, MI, she was born to Patrick and Hilda (Mueller) Meadus, one of six children. Caroline lived most of her life in Michigan until moving to Homosassa in the late 80’s with her late husband, Walter. Caroline was a woman of faith and was very active in her church. She loved to sing and was a member of her church choir. An avid bowler, she bowled until the age of 94. She was a master at crocheting and loved blessing her family and friends with gifts. She loved playing games on her computer and live streaming with her family. Caroline was a faithful and devoted volunteer for many years at Friends of Citrus and The Nature Coast Thrift Shop in Homosassa. She was very independent and people were amazed at her stamina for her age. She was always seen with a smile on her face. She loved butterflies and always wore them, either in her hair, jewelry or a piece of clothing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Walter Waterhouse; daughter Nancy Studnickas and son Philip Marx; granddaughter Ta’betha Studnickas; and her five sisters: Eva Lamoureux, Ruth Kampenski, Patricia Michalik, Baby Viola Meadus and Eileen Riske. Caroline is survived by her son Daniel (Nancy) Marx; grandchildren Raymond (Angie) Roney, James Marx, William (Allie) Marx and Jennapher Johnson; great grandchildren Philip and Anna Marie Studnickas, Kayleigh and Jude Marx, Joshua and Kaiden Roney; many loving cousins and nieces and nephews, as well as special friend and caregiver, Tina Sauers. Caroline was also a devoted pet Mom to Corky and Buddy, who both greeted her in Heaven. A memorial Celebration of Life for Caroline will be held on Sat., Sept. 20, 20205 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 West Bradshaw St., Homosassa, FL 34448 with Pastor Ernie Post Officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Caroline's name to Friends of Citrus and the Nature Coast, 8471 W. Periwinkle Lane, Homosassa Springs, FL 34446.
