
David Dixon Cosmo Maffia, 84, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Mon., May 11, 2026 at his home. A native of Milford, MA, he was born March 7, 1942 to James and Marjorie (Chisholm) Maffia, one of three children. David served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Navy for three years, attaining the rank of Storekeeper Third Class Petty Officer, serving aboard the USS Valley Forge (LPH-8) for 23 months. Mr. Maffia was a retired purchasing agent for both the Milford Shoe Co. and the Mercury International Shoe Co. and moved to Homosassa 18 years ago from Mendon, MA. David was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa. Mr. Maffia was a sports car enthusiast, especially Corvettes. He enjoyed keeping his cars clean and polished and finding ways to improve their performance. He also loved to shop for any items that would beautify both the inside and outside of his home. David’s perfect day would revolve around spending all of his time with his beloved wife of 57 years, Albertine Annette “Tina” Maffia, who survives him. They both especially enjoyed their many trips to Disney World. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings James F. Maffia and Vivian (Maffia) Mussulli. In addition to his wife Tina, he is survived by brother-in-law Felix Courteau (wife Carol), Spencer, MA; sister-in-law Suzanne West (husband Richard), Whitinsville, MA; nieces Marlene Dempsey (husband Lee), Bend, OR; Lorna Sullivan (husband John), Mendon, MA; Rosanne Feldt (husband James), Providence, RI and Joanna Moran (husband Jim), Buzzards Bay; two additional nieces, three nephews, four grand nephews, eight great nieces, five great grand nephews and four great grand nieces. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., May 22, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa with Fr. J. Glenn Diaz, Celebrant. Military Honors will be rendered in front of St. Thomas immediately following the mass. Burial will follow at a later date at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Milford, MA. Services entrusted to Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL.
