

Domenic Bonta, 82, of Homosassa, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville. A native of Gary, Ind., he was born Feb. 17, 1931, to Antonio and Irene (DeLibertis) Bonta, one of five children. Domenic moved to Homosassa 18 years ago from Crown Point, Ind., and was a retired supervisor for U.S. Steel. Mr. Bonta was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council #14485 and a parishioner of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Crystal River. Domenic loved golfing, fishing, and was known as an expert mushroom hunter. He is survived by his five children, David Anthony Bonta (Sharon), Homosassa, Ricky Robert Bonta (Maxine), Portage, Ind., Lori Lynn Walsko (Chuck), Trinity, Anthony Allen Bonta, Indianapolis, Ind., and Sharon Denise Gray (Bill), Green Bay, Wis.; brothers, Robert Bonta, Portage, Ind., Anthony Bonta (Judith), Hobart, Ind., and Eugene Bonta (Linda), Valparaiso, Ind.; grandchildren, Jason, Hannah, Danny, Joshua, James, Denise, Aaron, Kyle, Courtney, Kevin and Julie; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Christina, Beau, Benjamin, Kaytlen, Leah, Molly and Deacon. Mr. Bonta was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Bonta, Nov. 8, 2012; a granddaughter, Danielle Bonta; an infant sister; and a sister-in-law, Mary Bonta. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Crystal River with Fr. Ryszard Stradomski, celebrant. Interment will be private.
