Francis Harrington "Frank" Bennett

Francis Harrington Bennett, 83, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sat., Sept. 12, 2026 at his home. A native of Ontario, Canada and raised in Maryland, he was born Jan. 23, 1943 to William and Mary (Harrington) Bennett. Frank, as he was known to everyone, served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force in the 60’s; four years of active duty and two years as a reservist. Upon completion of his college associate degree, Frank began a career in law enforcement for the Montgomery County Police in Maryland, retiring as Sergeant after a long and devoted career spanning 27 years. Mr. Bennett retired in the late 90’s and moved to Florida and became a faithful member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Crystal River, FL. Frank was a member of many organizations that he regularly supported; among them were the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, American Legion Post #155, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Salvation Army, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Red Cross. An avid cat lover, Frank was known to always give each of his cats equal time on his lap. He also enjoyed watching birds; even regularly feeding a family of hawks on his property. In addition to his father William, who passed away when Frank was young, Frank was preceded in death by his mother Mary (2000), as well as wife Cheryl Dawn, brother-in-law Charles Franklin, and nephew William Charles, all passing away in 2022. Frank is survived by his daughter, Michelle Renee Bennett; grandson Kenneth Roger; siblings Mary Patricia, George and Verna; nieces and nephews Lori, Thomas, Tracy, Suzanne, Randy, Teresa and Katherine; great nieces and great nephews Maryann, Bill, Kathleen, Becca, Mary, Rachel, Little Randy, Noah, Jonah, Ashley and Alexandra; great great nieces and great great nephews Natalie, Cole, Isaac, Sam, Bre, Alex, Amelia, Leanna, Kylie, Austin and Abigail. An incredible man to all that knew him, Frank will be missed beyond words. Care entrusted to Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL.
