Frank O’Dell, 82, of Homosassa, passed away on Fri., Feb. 21, 2014 at Crystal River Health and Rehab Center. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he was born Jan. 5, 1932 to John and Elizabeth O’Dell, one of three children. “Digger”, as he was known to many of his friends, was a retired ramp serviceman for United Airlines at JFK Airport in Queens, NY with 30 years of service. Mr. O’Dell was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran of the Korean War and served in Korea as a medic from 1951 to 1953. He was of the Roman Catholic faith; formerly active in the Knights of Columbus and Loyal Order of Moose and a member of American Legion Post 155, Crystal River. Frank will always be remembered as a man who wanted to always help people each day of his life. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joann O’Dell, Homosassa; son Rob O’Dell, Beverly Hills; son John O’Dell, Homosassa and son Samuel O’Dell of Long Island, NY; sister Mary Carillo, Long Island, NY; granddaughters Jamie Nicole O’Dell, Virginia and Yasmine O’Dell, New York, NY; great grandson Landon O’Dell and a very close nephew, Al Carillo, M.D., of Long Island, NY. Mr. O’Dell was preceded in death by a son, Frankie O’Dell on Oct. 8, 1990 and a brother, John O’Dell. Friends will be received on Wed., Feb. 26, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, where a chapel service will take place at 2:00 P.M.
