Frederick John William Hofmeister

Frederick John William Hofmeister, 75, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home. A native of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, he was born October 12, 1941 to Raymond and Ruth (Knack) Hofmeister, one of four children. Fred, as he was known to many, moved to Homosassa in 2004 from West Allis, Wisconsin and was a retired clerical supervisor for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Hofmeister served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 as a Photographer's Mate Third Class Petty Officer, and served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal in Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of Moose. Fred is survived by his three siblings: James Hofmeister, Ocala, Florida; Margaret "Margie" Conley, Homosassa, Florida and Maryanne Rodgers, Stafford, Virginia and several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents. He will be interred next to his mother Ruth on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa Springs, Florida, with military honors rendered by the United States Navy Military Honors Detail.
