George Norman Reno, 71, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019. Born in Brownsville Pennsylvania in late October before the snowy season, his mother quickly moved George and his older sister back to her family home Alabama. Most of his life was lived in Mobile. He contracted Polio at 18 months old. He survived the ordeal that left him with a crippled right leg. Raised in the rich coastal wetlands by a determined single adoring mother and her family, George loved to fish the waters of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. His strong ‘I can do anything’ attitude was reinforced by a devoted mother with a never wavering focus to support him into the man he became. He never slowed down or gave up. He was a Surveyor, Cook on an Oil Rig, ASE Certified Mechanic for 25 years, Vocational School Teacher, Freight Dispatcher and Truck Driver. He was a detail-oriented worker with a quirky sense of humor. He was fascinated with technology and computer gaming. Did you know he was a sports fan from start to finish? Mostly he was an adoring father, brother, cousin and friend. Not to mention a rabid University of Alabama fan. Gifted with our mother’s bright blue eyes and quick smile, we all adored him back. He loved to have a good time. All who knew him could tell by the volume of his enjoyment. Fiercely loyal and protective as the raging Bull Elephant of the Crimson Tide. Gently loving and supportive as the brightest Angel. We will miss your wisdom and advice. Thank you for the rich tapestry of love and life shared with us all. You got your final wish. You got to Go First. George is survived by his daughters Robin Miklos and Suzanne, son Michael ‘Chip’ Reno. 9 Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren. Sister Pamela Reno Pursell and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Services entrusted to Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. www.wilderfuneral.com
