Harold E. Emanuel

Harold E. Emanuel, 85, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. A native of Georgetown Guyana, he was born August 3, 1934 to Gideon and Floretta Emanuel, one of six children. Harold attended school at St. Philip’s School in Guyana and moved to Trinidad at the age of 17, then immigrated to New York in 1970 and became a U.S. citizen. Harold’s occupations during his working life were serving aboard shrimp boats as a seaman and furniture upholsterer, crafting all of his work by hand. Mr. Emanuel was a member of the Independent United Order of Mechanics Western and was of the Roman Catholic faith. Harold moved to Homosassa in 2012 from Maybrook, New York and, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his siblings Evelyn Emanuel, Enid Felix, and Vernon Emanuel, as well as a son, Duane Emanuel. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Debra (Bryant) Emanuel; brothers Maurice Emanuel of Homosassa, Florida and Ivan Emanuel of California; sons Maurice Emanuel of Trinidad and Derrick Emanuel; daughters Ingrind Emanuel of Brooklyn, New York; Floretta Emanuel of Far Rockaway, New York and Desiree James Emanuel of Brandon, Florida; stepdaughter Tamesha Bryant; grandchildren Abraham, Samya, Maureesha, Akilah, Sanaa, Jnai, Messiah, Mehki and Sayah and stepgrandchildren Tavonna and Jonathan; sisters-in-law Claudette Emanuel, California; Diane Emanuel, Homosassa, FL; Pearline Bryant, Bronx, NY and Lynette Smith, Norfolk, VA and brother-in-law Erwin Bryant, New York, NY. Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida, where a Celebration of Life will commence at 1:30 P.M. Interment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa, Florida. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilder Funeral Home is restricted to 20 attendees at any one time, with face masks required by all guests.
