

Harry S. “Bud” Kent, Jr., 89, of Beverly Hills, Florida, passed away Sun., Aug. 31, 2014 at his home. A native of Keene, New Hampshire, he was born Oct. 2, 1924 to Harry, Sr. and Mandana (Hodgkins) Kent, one of seven children. Bud, as he was known to many, served his country in WWII as a member of the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry division in the Pacific from 1942 to 1946 and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster along with the Bronze Star. He had a long career as a pressman and photographic technician for A. E. Martel in Keene, N.H. and moved from there to Citrus County in 1987. Mr. Kent was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Bud was of the Roman Catholic faith and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elaine T. Kent, Beverly Hills; son Phillip Kent (wife Ann), Ocala, FL; son Larry Kent (wife Ginni), Jacksonville, FL; five siblings: Lillian Grover and Mary DuBois, both of W. Swanzey, NH; Joann Pappas, Swanzey Center, NH; Mandana Jean Guyette, Keene, NH and Robert Kent, Cape Coral, FL; daughter-in-law Debra Kent, Lynn, MA; ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Mr. Kent was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Kent, and a sister, Phyllis Baldwin. A celebration of Bud’s life will take place on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at 10:00am from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. Inurnment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa, with American Legion Post #155 rendering military honors.
