John Henry Davis, Jr., of Homosassa, Florida, formerly of Canton, Georgia, passed from this life into the arms of God on May 30, 2018. He was 93 years old. John is survived by his son Steve (Sonya) Davis of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren Bradley Davis of Canton, Georgia; Mary Elizabeth (John Robert) Bell of Greer, South Carolina; Stefanie Davis of Atlanta, Georgia and Samantha Elise of Hot Springs, Arkansas; great grandchildren Noah, Lorelei and Declan Bell; Xavier and Michael Agaiava; Adrian White and Jade Davis. He is also survived by his brothers Ed, Fred, Jack, Gary and George, as well as a special niece Violet Rozanski and multiple nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Marie and son Michael; his father John Henry, Sr. and mother Lois; a brother Buddy and a sister Juanita. John served in World War II as a paratrooper assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and made multiple jumps into enemy territory during this time. After his service to a country he loved, he became a welder by trade and worked in the shipyards in Tampa, Florida before returning to Georgia to continue his work with his loving wife Marie and their sons Steve and Michael. John loved to fish and won several fishing contests over the years. He enjoyed hunting with his son Steve and family until the last few years when his health did not allow him to continue. A celebration of John's life will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida with military honors being rendered by the Florida Army National Guard and the American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River, Florida. We will always remember uncle Johnny and his hunting and fishing stories. He always had something interesting to talk about. He tickled me when he would be telling a storie and tickle himself telling it. That funny snickering giggle he had would get everyone laughing. We're sure going to miss him. Gods speed uncle Johnny until we meet again.
