John M. Listwan

John M. Listwan, 80, of Homosassa, FL., passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL. A native of Kearny, NJ, John was born July 10,1945 to George and Ann (Timensky) Listwan, one of four children. John was raised by his parents, along with his three sisters, in Harrison, NJ. John served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 and had significant time in the Republic of Vietnam. John and his loving wife Marlene raised their two beautiful children for 20 years in Hackettstown, NJ. Mr. Listwan enjoyed a long 30 year career as a night time mechanic for United Parcel Service in Parsippany, NJ and moved to Homosassa upon his retirement 20 years ago. A Roman Catholic by faith, John loved to fish and work with his tools. He loved to fix anything that needed to be fix and build whatever needed to be built. His perfect day would be spent tinkering around in his workshop or making family and friends laugh with his jokes. John was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Marlene Listwan; children Stephen George Listwan, Beverly Hills, FL and Bernadette Ann Wohnus and husband Michael, Bayville, NJ; grandchildren Weston John and Annalise Marlene Wohnus, Bayville, NJ and sisters Felicia Valorani,Towaco, NJ; Theresa Fraser, Point Pleasant, NJ and Patricia Beason and husband Mike, also of Point Pleasant, NJ. A Catholic Prayer Service and Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, 4890 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa with Deacon Mark Manko officiating. Military Honors will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with the United States Air Force and American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River rendering the military honors.

A Catholic Mass will be held at a later date this year in New Jersey in memory of John. Details of that to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a charitable donation to the Disabled Veterans of America.
