John Francis McCormick Jr.

John Francis McCormick, Jr., 79, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Mon., June 16, 2025 at Tampa General Hospital in Spring Hill, FL. A native of Hartford, CT, he was born April 12, 1946 to John F. McCormick, Sr. and Helen (Karwan) McCormick, one of five children. John moved here 20 years ago from East Lyme, CT and was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa and was also a member of Knights of Columbus, both here in Citrus County and his former residence in Connecticut. Mr. McCormick’s perfect day would involve his love of both golf and woodworking. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas McCormick. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen M. “Kathy” McCormick of Homosassa; children Sharon Elliott (husband William), Norwich, CT and Stephen McCormick (wife Maryalyce), Mechanicsburg, PA; grandchildren Zachary and Hannah Elliott, both of Norwich, CT and Lily and Connor McCormick, both of Mechanicsburg, PA and brothers Robert McCormick, The Villages, FL; William McCormick (wife Loreyna), St. Cloud, FL and Michael McCormick, Savannah, GA., as well as a sister-in-law, Roberta McCormick, Enfield, CT. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa with Fr. J. Glenn Diaz, Celebrant. Military honors will follow at 12:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, with the Florida Army National Guard and Citrus County All Veterans Honor Guard rendering honors.
