

John Thomas McLaughlin, 80, of Homosassa, Florida; formerly of Harford County, Maryland, passed away suddenly on September 26, 2021. John was the son of the late Victor & Eunice McLaughlin of Bel Air, Maryland. In addition, he had three siblings; the late Janet Delp from Whiteford Maryland, Jerry and his wife Francis McLaughlin of Fall Branch, Tennessee and Elaine and her husband Joe Macko of Bel Air, Maryland. He is also survived by his wife, Robin Stottlemyer McLaughlin, and his two sons; Greg and wife Jackie McLaughlin, and Corey and wife Lindsay McLaughlin. Lastly, John is survived by his four grandchildren; Colin, Caitlin, James, and Ryleigh McLaughlin. John was born in Baltimore, Maryland on June 11, 1941. He joined the United States Army in November 1958 and served until February of 1962. Upon completing his time with the United States Army, he began a career working for the Department of Defense. During that time, John earned his Bachelor’s degree from National Louis University as well as his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Oklahoma. After 31 years of service, he retired from the Department of Defense in December 1994. Upon retirement, John moved to Homosassa, Florida where he spent his time acting, golfing, playing cards and enjoying retirement with his wife, Robin. He loved to sing and play the guitar and relished the special moments he got when his children and grandchildren would come to visit. John will always be remembered, and his legacy will be carried on through the surviving family, who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. Friends will be received on Thurs., Sept. 30, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where military honors will commence at 6:30 P.M., rendered by the American Legion Post #155 Honor Guard of Crystal River.
