
John Lee Tucker, 75 of Homosassa, died Tuesday July 19, 2011 at his residence. He was born January 29, 1936 in Washington, DC to the late Ted Lee and Mary (Watson) Tucker. John enlisted as a Sea Cadet while still in high school and served in the US Coast Guard in the North Atlantic. After discharge he worked at Montgomery Ward in Detroit, MI, Wickes Boiler and Foster Wheeler Energy Corp.. where he traveled the US as part of a start up crew for FW Boilers and later was brought into headquarters in Livingston, NJ as Proposal Manager for maintenance projects.
He retired in 1998, after 29 years with Foster Wheeler, and moved to Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa. John participated in SMWCC Men’s Golf League. He was a member of American Legion Post No.157 and the Mouse Legion as well as a former Exalted Ruler of West Citrus Elks 2001-2002. He was also a member of several bowling teams, pool leagues, and Withlacoochee Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution as he was a descendant of Steven Payne of Virginia. He was also an active member of the SAR Color Guard.
John is preceded by his first wife, Barbara Archer Tucker and stepson Brian Gerald Warner (WTC 9/11/2001). He is survived by his wife Karen Strumpfler Tucker; sons, Jason (Fara) Tucker of Portland, OR and Kenneth Archer Tucker of Philadelphia, PA; stepdaughters, Dawn Warner Yamashiro (Nobuo) of Irmo, SC and Patricia Kiefer Warner-Proctor of Clinton, NJ; and grandchildren Ken Yamashiro, Allen Warner, Chris Yamashiro, Amy Yamashiro, Kathryn Warner, Kyle Yamashiro, Brent Proctor and Alia Proctor.
