Joseph E. "Joe" Harrison NCC, USN (ret)

Joseph E. “Joe” Harrison, NCC, USN (ret), 56, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Wed., May 27, 2015 at his home. A native of Pine Hill, N.J., he was born Dec. 29, 1958 to Charles and Mary (Allen) Harrison, one of four children. Mr. Harrison served his country proudly for 22 years in the United States Navy, retiring at the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and was a Navy Career Counselor the majority of his years in the Navy. During his many duty station assignments, Chief Harrison was attached to VF41, NAS Oceana, VA and also aboard the USS William B. Pratt (DDG-44), Charleston, SC, as well as COMNAVAIRRES New Orleans, from which he retired. Upon retirement, he served as a government service employee consultant with NAS Pensacola Public Works, Pensacola, FL. Joe was a member of B.P.O.E. West Citrus Elks Lodge # 2693 and moved to Homosassa in 2007 from Memphis, TN, where he had pursued his love of golf as an instructor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Teresa M. “Terri” Harrison, Homosassa, FL; adopted daughter Reanna Harrison Langert, Virginia; sister Ruth Youse (husband Ed), Grandy, NC; brother Charlie Harrison, Pine Hill, NJ; sister-in-law Trish Grove, Homosassa, FL; sister-in-law Teresa Marie Harrison Johnson, Lecanto, FL; brothers-in-law Robert Doyle Grove (wife Judy), St. Leonard, MD and Philip Read Grove (wife Cheryl), Severna Park, MD; grandchildren Hunter, Hayley and Hayden and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, George Harrison, in 2008. A memorial service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, with Fr. Ronald Marecki officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Friends will be received from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
