

Joyce G. Martin, 81, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sun., Aug. 28, 2016 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice House, Lecanto, FL. A native of Tollesboro, KY, she was born June 11, 1935 to Eugene and Louise (Carpenter) Gum, one of three children. Joyce was a retired elementary school teacher, specializing and certified in remedial reading, for the Beavercreek City School District, Beavercreek, Ohio, a teaching career that spanned 29 years. Joyce moved to Homosassa 30 years ago from Xenia, Ohio and was an avid gardener who loved raising orchids. Mrs. Martin also loved yard sales and was an accomplished antiquer and is survived by her daughter Leanne Martin of Homosassa; nephew Barry Foxworthy and his wife Ann, Sabina, Ohio; great nephew Tyler Foxworthy and his wife Brittany; great niece Jessica Foxworthy and great great nephews Carter and Thomas William Foxworthy. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Thomas W. Martin, on June 27, 2013 and two siblings, Joann Foxworthy and Gary Gum. A celebration of Joyce’s life will take place on Thurs., Sept. 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL, with Chaplain Kelly Greenawald officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Lecanto. Friends will be received at Wilder Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. until time of service.
